Principal's Report

Carly Avery

Dear Parents/Guardians

Firstly I would like to congratulate Cleaver on a tremendous effort at the inter-club level for the Public Speaking competition last weekend. Cleaver shone in his impromptu speech as well as delivering his prepared speech. Against some tough competition, he came runner-up! Well done Cleaver.

I would also like to thank the generous grant of $7,500-00 from the Bendigo Bank Community Grants program. They have been very supportive over the years, and once again supported us with the installation of our new sandpit. Karlene from the Bendigo Bank will visit us at our assembly this Friday.

As our fundraising was targeted to our new sandpit this year, we will now use these funds for sandpit equipment and refurbishing the chook shed into another play space for our students. It certainly brings a smile to my face to see all the progress in our yard and students enjoying the new facilities.

Today we are in the midst of our curriculum review, National School Improvement Tool. We have an external, experienced reviewer and two Catholic Education Sandhurst doing a deep dive into our practices at St. Joseph’s. Thus far they have affirmed our areas of strength. The review will give us goals to focus on moving forward, which I will share with you when the report is finalised.

Thank you to all those parents and community members who have participated in conversations this week, alongside all staff members and small groups of students.
