Family Wellbeing Resources

Mr James Gagliardi

Hi everyone and welcome to the Family Wellbeing Resources page. In my role as the school's Wellbeing and Engagement Leader, I also am involved in the department's Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHIPS) program and I am our school's Mental Health Wellbeing Leader (MHWL).

During my professional development studies, when networking with colleagues or talking to parents at our school, I often find or am recommended some wonderful resources. This page will be a space for me to share what I hope will be some useful things for families to explore for the purpose of developing the wellbeing of not only their children but of the parents and carers too. I have a bank of resources I am excited to share but will try and focus on one or two resources per newsletter.

EMERGING MINDS

I will start this space by sharing a wonderful online resource that I believe ALL families could benefit from utilising.

This organisation creates, collects and shares a wealth of resources for educators, specialists and families on a variety of different topics relating to child mental health and development. The family section is amazing and you can search for resources such as videos, journal articles and fact sheets on an emormous amount of topics relating to additional learning needs, special needs, mental health or general parenting concerns.

You can search by topic or brows by all subjects and you can access the website and specifically the family section using these links

Who is Emerging Minds?

For over 20 years Emerging Minds has been dedicated to advancing the mental health and emotional wellbeing of Australian infants, children, adolescents and their families. The organisation now leads the National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health, delivered in partnership with the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), the Australian National University (ANU), the Parenting Research Centre (PRC) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Emerging Minds develops mental health policy, interventions, in-person and online training, programs and resources in response to the needs of professionals, children and their families. We partner with family members, national and international organisations to implement evidence-based practice into the Australian context. Our resources are freely available at this web hub.
