Principal's Message to the School Community

Dear Kyneton Primary School Community

Welcome to our first newsletter of Term 3, I hope it has been a positive start for all families.

At assembly, this week we introduced our KPS Learning Dispositions after the feedback and input we gathered from staff, students and the community in the second half of last term. As a reminder the term 'learning disposition' refers to the way in which learners engage in and relate to the learning process. Learning dispositions affect how students approach learning and therefore the outcomes of their learning.

The KPS Learning Dispositions are:

  • Adventurous
  • Problem Solver
  • Resilient
  • Curious
  • Creative
  • Collaborative

The first disposition to be explored over the next fortnight is Curious. At assembly, we introduced it using a recorded reading of the picture storybook titled The Museum of Me, see the link below and the following definition of what it means to be curious.

For the next two weeks our classroom and specialist awards will be linked to what it means to be curious and in Week 4 we will explore another disposition.

KPS NAPLAN Results 2023 something to celebrate!

Our school's 2023 NAPLAN data was made available this week. It is with much pride and celebration that I can communicate to you that our Year 3 & 5 students' results in the new Exceeding and Strong domains in all areas (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Numeracy, and Grammar and Punctuation) exceeded both of our similar schools' and network schools' cohort. This is an exceptional result and is a testament to all of our children, staff, and the positive relationships existing between parents/carers and the school.

If you are a parent/carer of a student who undertook the NAPLAN tests in March this year you may collect your child’s results from the office or email the school at kyneton.ps@education.vic.gov.au asking for them to be given to your child.

NAPLAN reports are confidential documents that contain personal information about each student and, therefore, the school does not retain copies.  Please keep the report in a safe location, as you may need to produce it in the future for enrolment purposes.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s NAPLAN results, you should discuss these with your child’s teacher, who will have the best insight into your child’s educational progress

Kind regards,

Alistair Rayner
