Year 3/ 4 Pastoral Groups - Thankyou Kim!

On behalf of everyone at St Anne’s College I would like to thank Kim Bristow for stepping in and leading one of our Pastoral Groups over the last 6 weeks. Next week we  excitedly welcome Cindy Luksch back to our college in the 3/4 Learning Area.

Year 3/4  Melbourne Excursion

On Wednesday August 23, the Year 3/4 students and staff are having an adventure to Melbourne. They will be travelling by train from Shepparton Train Station to Southern Cross Station, returning on the same day. This is part of their Inquiry (ITIME) focus. Students will be visiting LUME where they will explore Indigenous cultural connection through artwork. Connection is the most expansive tapestry of First Peoples' art ever assembled and Polly Woodside, a tall sailing ship, where they will join the crew, have a tour of the ship and discover what life was like on a tall ship sailing the seven seas.

Athletics Day

Tuesday the 15th of August is our St Anne’s Athletics Day Carnival where our students dress in their house colours and enjoy a day full of fun and sports activities. We welcome our years 3/4 students to attend the entire event day, and our years F - 2 students will attend half a day.

100 days of school for our Foundation students!

Today we celebrated 100 days of Foundation! Foundation students dressed up and celebrated with their Learning Mentors, participating in a range of fun learning activities related to the number 100.

Book Week

Book Week commences on Monday the 21st of August. The theme for this year is “Read, Grow and Inspire”. We will be having a dress up parade on Thursday, with families welcome to join us. We encourage everyone to join us in dressing up as a book character. More information and details will come out in the next fortnight.

International Day of Indigenous Peoples

The 4th August marks National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. This year's theme is LITTLE VOICES LOUD FUTURES.  On the 16th and 17th of August we welcome Aunty Greta and Aunt Hilda from Victoria Parks Visit to run a workshop with our School of Wonder Students.  Each class will be assigned 1 period during this time.

Water Week August 14th - 18th

Water Week is fast approaching and will run from Monday August 14th to Friday August 18th. The theme for this year is “Every drop Counts”. Students will be creating their own door hanger, which will be displayed around our college and will be a part of the competition, which is judged by a representative from Goulburn Valley Water. Water Week is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about water (locally, nationally and globally) and how we as individuals can contribute to a more sustainable way of living.

Assembly

Our first assembly for Term 3 was a success! Lauren’s Pastoral Group did an amazing job hosting our assembly and we welcomed many families as we celebrated our School of Wonder. Our next assembly will be Monday the 14th of August at 9.05am and will be hosted by Andrea’s Pastoral Group.

St Anne’s Feast Day

Last Wednesday we celebrated St Anne’s Feast Day with a wonderful Mass at Christ the King Church. It was wonderful to see so many of our wider school community attend and participate in our celebrations. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and to the many grandparents who came back to St Anne’s to spend some quality time with their loved ones.

Fire Education for Foundation

This Term Foundation students will be engaging in FireEd sessions which involve visits from the local firefighters. These sessions are aimed to educate and prepare our Foundation students to respond appropriately in the event of a fire emergency.

The Resilience Project

Learners and Learning Mentors continue to develop their understanding of the GEM principles (gratitude, empathy and mindfulness) through daily discussions, reflections and activities. I encourage families to support their learners by familiarising themselves with the GEM principles and the work of the people behind The Resilience Project. This Project is evidence based and continues to have an impact.
