Indonesian Day

'Hari Indonesia' is just around the corner! Our whole school will participate in Indonesian Day next Tuesday, 8 August. This exciting opportunity for all students to further explore Indonesian culture as part of our Indonesian language and cultural program. Students will participate in a range of activities during a full day program. Workshops will vary across year levels, including Puppet Play (Prep and Year 1), Indonesian Dance (Years 2 and 3), Martial Arts (Years 4 and 5), and Kendang Drums (Year 6). All students will also participate in the traditional Independence Day games with their classroom teacher to enhance their cultural understanding of Indonesia.

Some key points for parents and carers:

  • Please pay $9 and give consent on Compass not later than Monday 7 August.
  • Parents and carers are welcome to attend any session in the day. See the timetable provided on Compass if you would like to come throughout the day.
  • Students are asked to wear red and white or Indonesian traditional clothing (Batik) on Tuesday.
  • There will be a lolly guessing competition to raise money for The Orangutan Project. $1 for 3 guesses or 50c for 1 guess. The Lolly Jar is being brought to classrooms in the week prior to Indonesian Day for students to guess. Final opportunity to guess how many lollies will be at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Thank you for your continued support towards the running of this wonderful cultural immersion!
