Year 6

Survivor Team Challenge Day

During the first week back in Term 3, Year 6 students participated in a series of team challenges which required collaboration, problem solving skills and persistence. Challenges included a flip the tarp challenge, replicating a Lego model, and an icebreaker t-shirt challenge. It was wonderful to see students display leadership, clear communication and support for one another throughout the day.

Maths

In Maths this term, there has been a focus on measurement, including length and volume. Students have participated in hands-on activities to solidify their learning. They designed pathways outside with chalk and used string to measure the lengths of their pathways. Students also constructed cubic metres with paper and natural materials.

Phoenix Soar Program

We have begun our four week wellbeing program with the South East Melbourne Phoenix basketball team. Students have been learning about their personal strengths as a member of a team, as well as identifying who is in their ‘support crew’ (trusted adults, friends, peers). Alongside their learning in the classroom, students have had the opportunity to learn basketball skills and participate in outdoor games. We are really enjoying the program so far and are grateful to Phoenix for providing this opportunity for us!
