The Weekly Edit

Congratulations to our Indonesian student debaters who competed last Friday in Melbourne.  You can read all about it in the class news page.  We also have some amazing pictures of the recent visit to the Hydro Electric Power Generation system at the Bogong Village plant by our Year 12 Physics class.  This is an excellent prelude into next week's Science Week theme - Innovations - powering future industries.

Bienvenido to our new exchange student Roberto from Chile - please take the time to say hi and welcome him to our school.  You can read about Roberto and his home town further in the newsletter.

This week we have skiing days on and a whole-school performance of "The Forgotten warrior" on Friday.  On Wednesday there is a school council meeting at 6pm - all welcome.

Here in the library we have been excitedly gearing up for dun dun dun.......

the Australian School Library Day on Wednesday 23rd August.

Didn't know we had Zoolander in the library
Counting down the days!

This is a day to highlight and celebrate school libraries, "Breach the library walls" hashtag #ASLD2023 they recommend!  In preparation we have included some staff interviews on what they are reading.  Funnily enough, both staff members we interviewed named Enid Blyton's "The magic faraway tree" as one of the first books they remember reading.  I also thought it was so lovely looking at the wall of support and seeing what authors, illustrators, and education leaders are saying about the importance of school libraries. Take a look if you have the time.

In Community News we have info on an upcoming Man Cave keynote event - Empowering boys to become great men and we are looking forward to the upcoming Hoppet event and the Mount Beauty Writer's Festival.

Enjoy your week!
