Welcome back to Sport and Physical Education in Term 3.

PARISH ATHLETICS

All children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will all be participating in the Parish Schools Athletics Carnival (St Mary’s, St Joseph’s and St Brendan’s) on Wednesday  9th August.

The event is to be held at the Westernport Athletics Track, located at Westernport Secondary College, High St Hastings.

The emphasis of the day will be on fun, participation and the opportunity to meet other students from our Parish Community.

Children will be competing for their house in age levels.  

Parents are asked to take their child/ren to the track promptly by 8.45am on Wednesday 9th August (Teachers will be on duty from 8.30am) and make arrangements for their child/ren to be collected at the conclusion of the Carnival at 2.30pm. 

Program: 

               8.45am    Arrival, report to class teacher and receive house recording card

               8.55am      Welcome and explanation of the days events

               9.15am -1.15pm      Rotating activities: shot put, discus, long jump, 200m & 400m

               1.30pm - 2.00pm    100m sprints

               2.00pm - 2.30pm    Gr 6 circular relay, presentation and conclusion 

Entry to the ground is via the first gate which is on the boundary of the school as you drive down High St from Frankston/Flinders Rd (opposite Villawood Dr). The driveway leads down to the pavilion area where there is parking space. 

For the day to run smoothly it is vital that we have the assistance of 10  parents per school. 

Duties involve assisting with shot put, being on the finish line for the 100m or being an age group marshal. 

If you are able to help, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Children are encouraged to wear their house spirit house coloured tee shirt, or a house coloured plain t-shirt. 

Children need to bring their school bags packed with their playlunch, lunch and water, along with a warm school jacket and school jumper.

BAYSIDE DISTRICT BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

I am in the process of running basketball trials for a St Brendan’s girls and St Brendan’s boys basketball team to compete at the Bayside District Tournament. 

DATE: Friday 25th August. 2023  

VENUE: Frankston District Basketball Stadiums, 90 Bardia Ave, Seaford.

TIME: 9.00am to 2.40pm

Students are required to be transported to the venue by parents 

For our students to be able to attend, we need the assistance of parents to coach our teams and score on the day. Once the teams are announced parents will need to contact me if they are able to assist.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS - FIELD EVENTS

During Term 2 our Field athletics day was postponed due to wet weather. The new date for the event is on Wednesday 30th August at Ballam Park.

Our field athletics team will remain the same. A new note will be posted on Operoo.
