Wellbeing and Inclusion

at Willy

(Repeat)

Dear families,

As many of you are aware, Williamstown Primary has been teaching Respectful Relationships for a number of years.

Respectful Relationships is a statewide initiative to help young Victorians deal with a range of challenges they may face and covers topics including being respectful, resilient and engaged at school and being confident in themselves.

Respectful Relationships focuses on treating everyone with respect and dignity, and teaches students about the relationship between gender and power. The Rights,

Resilience and Respectful Relationships teaching and learning resources provide tailored materials for years Prep to 12, including age appropriate lesson plans and activities that help students learn new skills and build empathy, confidence and resilience.

In line with the continued work our staff undertake through our Professional Learning in our Wellbeing and Inclusion Curriculum Focus Group, our classroom practice continues to evolve and strengthen.

The teaching of Respectful Relationships topics is aligned throughout the school, as our Willy Kids topics are.

The eight Respectful Relationships topics are listed below and are taught over a two year period.

This term, Topic 8, Positive Gender Relations will be taught, inline with the Victorian F - 10 curriculum. Year level teams will be sharing further detail about lesson content in the fortnightly newsletter.
