Art Room News

Hello RHPS Artists,

WOW!! What a crazy, busy term. The junior school has made huge leaps and bounds in their art skills. Each student works extremely hard in the art room and will be proud to share their artwork with you at home.

Most of the artwork from this term will be displayed in the school corridors for a little while, then I PROMISE to send it home.

The Prep students have displayed amazing art skills as we leant about artist and author, Eric Carle. The Preps created their own painted paper and made these into wonderful seahorses, using templates and our cutting and gluing skills. The story, Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle gave us many ideas for our own artwork and we persisted with our cutting to make our beautiful collages. Next we will add some texture to our artwork using real sand and sea shells.

The Grade 1/2 students have worked extremely hard to complete their crocodile puppets, which will be displayed swimming down the corridors shortly...they are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! We have now started to make our rainmakers and have been painting our own story on our rainmaker after reading some Dreamtime stories for inspiration.

When these come home, ask your child about their story. They are very creative and have put a lot of effort into their art.

Next term I say goodbye to the junior school, as they begin their adventure with Mr.Taylor in Design and Technology lessons. The juniors will return to the art room in term 3, but are very welcome to come to art club on a Monday at lunchtime.

In term 2, the senior school will be back in the art room. Clay, canvas's and watercolour paper and paints have been purchased for a very BIG term of Australian inspired art.  Please make sure you have an art smock at school as it's going to be a MESSY term!

Enjoy your holidays, do some art and have FUN!!!

Keep Creating,

Mrs. Granger
