MOORESVILLE

FAREWELL!

After 35+ years in education across several schools and many different roles, I can't believe the time has come to leave. It's a milestone that is an emotional roller coaster.

Some interesting facts:

  • Biggest grade taught - 33 students. Gr 5/6.
  • Smallest grade taught - 17 students.
  • Strangest mix - Gr 3 - 17 boys and 3 girls
  • Oldest students taught - Year 8 [remedial literacy it was called. We had fun] and Year 10 Cross Age Tutoring unit with the local primary school.
  • Surprising jobs - as Special Forever liaison teacher for the Murray Darling Commision, I got to go on different TV ads and shows and was flown to Canberra on a very little plane! Another job was a School Community Development Officer [SCDO] and I got to have a lot of fun with 10 rural schools and run lots of fun programs.
  • Never taught Gr 1 or 2 for a full year. Taught all other year levels and many multi-ages classes
  • Had a phone interview for the position at RHPS. I was in my PJs and there was 6ft of snow outside.
  • Conducted approximately 1,000 SSG meetings at RHPS.
  • No photocopiers when I started teaching. We used 'gestetners'.
  • No internet. No whiteboards. We had chalk and blackboards.
  • Did I ever want to be anything else? Yes. I did consider being a microbiologist. I did my work experience in a pharmacy and studied environmental science at uni. Closest I have come is the boys' toilets when there is a mess!!!!

A huge THANKYOU to everyone who has been part of my RHPS journey. 14+ years has seen so many memories, opportunities and soooooooo much laughter and joy. It's time to add to my personal joy list now. I have captured some memories over the years... I have hundreds and hundreds.... so many wonderful memories that will last me forever.  Here are a mere few from the early years here.

I hope you can make it to the farewell assembly next week. I would love to say thankyou in person and answer any more weird and wonderful questions about how learning and teaching has changed over the years.

Goodbye everyone. It's been a blast.
