NEW - Festival of the Sacred

All Grade 5/6 student's are preparing this term for Festival of the Sacred, working fortnightly with tutors from ASPA Education, (Australian School of Performing Arts) and rehearsing in music sessions.

This year we will be having three concerts in the Goulburn Valley to comply with Covid restrictions. Our concert will be on Thursday 17th June at St. Augustine's Kyabram in Week 9. Details to follow when available.

NEW - Australian Army Reserves Presentation

On Friday 7th May, Christine O'Reilly (an engineer in the Australian Army Reserves) came to talk to us about the Army Reserves and what they did during peacetime.

She brought in some of her army essentials for the 5/6s to look at. As the kids passed around the Army food packs Christine explained what she does in the army.

Christine shared with us the work she did for AACAP (Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Program) where they helped isolated communities build a sewage plant.

In 2019-2020, Christine’s unit  helped with the bushfire recovery. They cleared trees, roads and re-fenced properties.

Recently, this year Christine’s unit went to assist in the cleanup for the floods.  They used large equipment to remove flood damaged items, buried livestock and helped residents clean up their houses. We looked at photos to help us understand how bad the floods were.

Christine also went with a unit to the Kapooka Army Base in NSW.  They cleaned up and prepared the 75 year old memorial for the 26 men who were killed in an army explosion in 1945.

We looked at heaps of photos which made the talk real for us.  We all enjoyed her presentation and learnt a lot about the Australian Army Reserves.  Thanks Christine.
