WORLD CREATIVITY & INNOVATION DAY

MR NATHAN LANE

The United Nations has designated 21 April as World Creativity and Innovation Day. This day raises awareness of the role of creativity and innovation in all aspects of human development. Edward de Bono argued that ‘there is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns’. We are truly blessed with a creative staff who everyday promote creativity in the classroom through the engaging learning experiences they provide our students.

Our students are also to be commended for their creativity. This year a core group at Year 10 is involved in a Project Based Learning (PBL) pilot. PBL is the perfect vehicle for developing creativity and innovation, and we look forward to seeing how the trial unfolds this year. The PBL team have already presented to the staff about the work they have done with the students in Term 1, and it is exciting to see what has been achieved in such a short amount of time. Room 2 is being used by the PBL pilot class and has been fitted out with some agile furniture that I am sure will inspire creativity and innovation in the students who use this space.
