Our First Term of School!
We cannot believe we have nearly reached the end of our first term here at school! We have had a busy term filled with lots of learning, creating special memories with our classmates and making new friends. Here are some of our favourite moments of this term.
We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and enjoys a restful break during the holidays. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday the 19th of April for a fun filled term two!

Foundation Musical Play
Last week the Foundation students participated in a new experience in the music room called Foundation Musical Play. We invited our Year Six buddies and leaders to make music with us. The students focused on Easter themed musical activities and guided their buddies through the songs, games and rhymes.
Welcome to the Music Room!
The students began welcoming everyone into the music space with their "hello" song and sung a big warm welcome to a special guest "Billy Bunny." We practiced using tuneful singing voices and showing the movement of our singing using hand signs.
This is the way...
We practiced different types of safe movement techniques around the music space while singing our "This is the way..." song. The students came up with some wonderful movement ideas that explored movement on the spot and movement that helps us to travel from one space to another. All students worked very hard to make safe movement choices.
Sleeping Bunnies
This song is led by a student leader and Billy Bunny. All students lay down and pretend to sleep on the floor. This is the slow lullaby part, it is very calming and relaxing. Billy Bunny and the student leader jump up when they are ready and sing "WAKE UP LITTLE BUNNIES!" Then we hop, hop, hop and stop!
Round' and Round' the Garden
You might like to try this poem at home! It is a great partner sensory activity that can expand the children's understanding of rhythm and rhyme.
Round' and round' the garden,
the little bunny goes,
hippity hop, hippity hop,
he/she is going to get your nose! (you can also use toes and clothes)
Try creating your own versions using some new rhyming words for the underlined words. Students have also practiced this poem with teddy bears in music time.
Easter Pokey
The Room Three students had some extra time in their Musical Play session so the senior students introduced them to the Easter Pokey. We also got to do Part B of the song using the parachute!
Here are some photos of our music making with our buddies! We had the most magical time and enjoyed sharing our music with others! Thank you so much to all of our wonderful senior student leaders and our Foundation music makers!
