New Campus for North Melbourne Primary School

From Sarah, Acting Principal on behalf of the VSBA

Welcome to your update on North Melbourne Primary School (new campus), an innovative new vertical school on Molesworth Street, North Melbourne, opening in 2023.

Designs released

The designs by ARM Architecture were unveiled by Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Northern Metropolitan Sheena Watt on 17 February 2021.

Campus announced

Following community consultation, the new school will be a campus of North Melbourne Primary School.

The school community told us that they are keen to make the most of the unique opportunity offered by the proximity of the two school sites, and to ensure equity of access to the 21st century facilities the new campus will provide.

Expanding the capacity of North Melbourne Primary School will enable it to cater for significant enrolment growth over the coming years, and to offer a superb education to all local students.

New facilities

The new school campus is set to add exciting amenities to Melbourne's inner north and west.

These include a landscaped playground offering diverse play and recreational experiences for children, an outdoor stage, tiered seating and flexi-space for events and performances, and a gymnasium suited to competition-grade basketball and netball.

These areas are designed to share with the community outside of school hours.

New Kindergarten

A kindergarten is being built for three and four-year-old children on level five of the campus, incorporating two rooms and opening onto engaging outdoor learning and play spaces.

School Zone

The new school campus zone for North Melbourne Primary School will be released in 2022, ahead of the opening in 2023.

Further information on school zones can be found at https://www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au/
