Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term 2!

I sincerely hope all of our students and parents enjoyed the school holiday break and were able to relax and spend quality time with family and friends. I am looking forward to working alongside all students, parents and staff throughout Term 2. This term, we welcome back Mrs. Annie Harris from parental leave. Annie has taken up her position with Mrs. Rollestone as the class teachers in 1J.  We also welcome Mrs Maria Turner and Mrs Kim Liplyn who will be working in Year 1 providing teacher support and Mrs Liz McMahon and Mrs Louise Maher working in Stage 1 and Stage 2.

On Monday, Kindergarten's morning prayer focused on Easter Sunday, the most important celebration in the Christian calendar. The discovery of the empty tomb the event that completes the Paschal Mystery: the passion, death AND resurrection of Jesus.

Whilst Christ’s willingness to go to his death on the cross was an extraordinary statement of God’s love for humankind, it is his rising again from death that offers all Christian people hope. The gospel tells us that upon entering the tomb and seeing Jesus’ burial cloths lying there, ‘he saw and he believed’. Unlike the later encounters with the risen Lord, this disciple recognised the truth and significance of what he saw in the empty tomb. He didn’t need to see the risen Lord to believe. Perhaps it is he that we today can best identify with. Not in a position to physically encounter the risen Christ, we are capable of seeing the signs of his resurrection and continuing presence in the world and choose to believe. A Word About Social Media

A few years ago parents discussed successes or concerns with friends at the school gate or at the back of assembly lines. Today, with the internet, mobile phones and social media, discussions can reach a far wider audience than ever before. Social media can provide an enjoyable way to socialise online and keep us connected with what is going on in our school community. While these technologies can be great for sharing ideas and keeping in touch, comments can have a greater impact than expected and can have very real consequences for the reputations of individuals including teachers, principals, parents and students. The Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong Social Statement strongly encourages us to create a positive experience and the maintenance of respectful relationships when using social media. I  strongly encourage you to click on the link below and read through this statement.
