The Resilience of our Students

It was a long and hard lockdown. However, the resilience and creativity of our students was captured by dedicated and hardworking teachers. During remote learning our Food Technology students were able to follow recipes and cook wonderful treats at home and learn menu planning, safety and hygiene.

Student Reflection

In Food Technology this semester, we made yummy food such as rice, wraps, pancakes and crepes. We learnt how to cook food properly and how to be safe in the kitchen.

Food Technology has helped us in the kitchen and helped us to remember important things like being safe and hygienic in the school kitchens and at home! Some safety tips we learnt included how to use knives correctly, how to cut food safely and how to avoid potential risks by washing our hands and more!

Year 8

The Year 9 Café Culture students designed a mini celebration cake for their Dessert Booklet assessment task at home. Students chose a theme and collected packs of icing and decorations from the College to take home to create and bake their celebration cakes.

Action Stations - We are Back!

Returning to classrooms and our Kitchen has been very exciting for the Food Technology and Textiles classes, while our teaching teams have been very productive on Microsoft Teams continuing with assessment tasks.

There is nothing better and more rewarding than to support students building real life skills and helping them ask the bigger questions about smart design thinking and sustainability in the classroom. The Textiles students have been very busy catching up and working with technologies not available in home settings such as the heat press cover stitcher and also working during lunchtimes to complete their assessment tasks.
