Merry Christmas from the DEC Team
2021 has been yet another challenge but we learned many lessons from last year, and we have made it through. We are very much looking forward to 2022 and what it brings. Exciting times ahead.
Once again, this year has been a mix of on/off site learning. The staff and students have worked really hard and excelled in seamlessly adapting in and out of both learning structures.
It was great to see DEC students attend our early morning Google Meet sessions, before their scheduled classes, to prepare for the day and also attend the online DEC Junior and Senior Google Meets, that were available every period, to receive support from our dedicated DEC staff. These Meets helped provide strong working connections between students, staff and peers.
We are so happy with the smooth transition our students have had into Early Commencement and the new House structure. Our students are excited to be moving up to the next year level and are well prepared for next year. It has been a great move into their new Houses. Even the DEC staff had to familiarise themselves with their new colours. Each of the four staff have been allocated to a different House.
Blue House: Alex Robinson
Green House: Anne Craig
Red House: Sarah Parker
Yellow House: Kathryn Khalaf
Well done to everyone who has stepped up to the challenge of meeting new teachers and students in your class, all while working in their new subjects. We understand that this will take some time to get used to as we venture into the new vertical Home Groups and new locker locations, but we are always here for any questions you may have and we are excited to support the new structure and look forward to future House events.
On Thursday 9th December the College is lucky enough to host a Year 12 Farewell Picnic. This year was a big year for the DEC having 4 of our students successfully graduate. We say a big Congratulations and we are so sad to see them go but we do wish them all the best for their future.
The Deaf Education Centre has officially been relocated. The DEC staff are now in the DATS building office. Our DEC classroom is now located in the old C10 Staff Office. We are excited for this new Chapter for our Centre.
On behalf of the Deaf Education Centre we would love to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year! See you in 2022.
