As a new staff member coming into Mount Erin College this year, I was so impressed by the calibre of the students in my senior English classes and their willingness to not only assist me in getting to know the College, but also to provide feedback on various aspects of the school and explain, boldly and thoughtfully, what they would do if they were “in charge”. It was these students who inspired me to take on the role of the Student Agency Leadership Team (SALT) Co-ordinator in 2022.

Along with the College shifting to a House structure, SALT is also experiencing a “shake up”, as it were, in 2022. In addition to the two College Captains, we have introduced new roles of the four House Captains, and have also appointed students to new SALT Captain positions, including Sustainability Captain, Wellbeing and Inclusion Captain, Sports Captains, Arts Captains, and Education Captain. SALT Captains will be representing all students of the college, and will provide all students with a voice and the opportunity to be heard. SALT Captains will be organising student activities, fostering a strong college spirit across the four Houses, and will demonstrate and model the College values in all of their endeavours.

I am looking forward to being a part of these exciting changes and am very confident that the students within SALT will take every opportunity to continue to improve the College.

I would like to congratulate each and every SALT Captain on their outstanding achievements in being appointed as the school leaders, and wish them well as they take on these new roles in 2022.
