FUTURES ADVISOR

MRS SELLERS-FOGARTY

Well what a time we have had! Needless to say that due to Covid, numerous programs I had planned for Kurri Kurri High have not come to fruition and several have been back dated. We are now scrambling to put together programs within Level 3 Covid restrictions that are valuable to our students.

The St Nicholas Pathways Immersion Program is scheduled for Week 10 Term 4 and has been restricted to double vaccinated students. Students will be ferried in and out from Kurri High each of the 4 days to and from the Centre in Maitland. This is an invaluable program for those students who are all very interested in the childcare Industry,

We also have managed to bring in a 1st Aid Course as well as a White Card program and lastly, we will bring the PCYC Safe Driver course to Kurri Kurri high. These courses are classed as essential services so under Covid Level 3 restrictions they can be delivered in school. Unfortunately, due to these restrictions I have been all but cripple in what courses I can introduce to Kurri Kurri High and I am hopeful that 2022 will see our students given many opportunities to upskill and participate in engaging programs.

Our Year 12 students who have applied for the Early Entry to university have done exceptionally well with 95% achieving an offer from their preferred universities. This is a great outcome for our students as they have faced so many challenges in their learning due to Covid.

Year 12 students have also have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Skills program which offers free programs that will upskill students ready  to enter the workforce. For further information please use the link below

My first year at Kurri Kurri High has been interesting to say the least, I have met so many awesome students who are so appreciative of the support I can give. From uni applications to resume writing, job applications and interview skills, our students will be prepared for a very bright future. Please have a happy and safe holiday season and I look forward to supporting Kurri Kurri High students in 2022.
