Lock down may have slowed down some of the practical projects happening in Child Studies this semester but students are busy creating again to get their projects finished in time before the holidays. Year 10 Child Studies have been practising different types of stitching, including cross and back stitching to create a baby singlet and face washer. Year 9 Child Studies have been busy also practising some stitching skills to prepare for next year’s projects creating Halloween puppets as well as making pom poms to make a baby mobile. Students have also practised some baby care skills of wrapping and changing a nappy. All students are loving the practical fun!
This Term in Lifestyle students have been learning about healthy nutrition. Students have investigated the role nutrition plays in optimising a person’s health. Each HUB has participated in a “sugar prediction” activity where they needed guess the amounts of sugar in common everyday consumed products.
Students have also been watching the “That Sugar Film” as part of our study to help them investigate how much sugar they have in their diet and the effects sugar can have on the body.
Year 8 have been enjoying returning to school and getting activities with their peers in the Striking sport unit. Students have been playing modified games to improve their Cricket skills. We have been focussing on Teamwork in fielding, accuracy in throwing and using correct catching techniques.
Did you know if you are injured and have a Lifestyle or PDHPE practical lesson you can still be involved in the lesson? Sports require a level of administrative duties, such as a scoring, timing, field, and equipment set up.
