BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

SCHOOL COUNCIL PRESIDENT REPORT

As the new school year approaches the school council turn their attention to school budgets and ways that we can support the school to meet operating costs.

Our school has annual operating expenses of about $750,000. These operating costs cover everything from utilities, building cleaning and maintenance, all the way down to pens, pencils, art & crafts supplies and sporting equipment used by our kids each day.

To meet these annual operating costs the school receives about $301,370 from the Department of Education. The balance of about $449,000 needs to be raised by the school. The school raises this amount each year from the following sources:

1. Parent Contributions.

2. Hiring out facilities such as the gym to third parties.

3. Fundraising activities undertaken by Family and Friends.

Based on the expected returns from facility hire and fundraising from Family and Friends,  we need parent contributions of about $333,630 for the school to have sufficient funds to meet operating costs in 2022. This equates to parent payments of about $990 per child.

The school council is asking parents and carers to contribute as much as they can when it comes time to pay your parent contribution in the new year, we understand that some families are capable of more and others less, however every single dollar makes a difference. So please contribute what you can when you can to provide essential support which benefits each and every student at school.

In the new school year the school council will reach out to families again to raise awareness around the importance of parent contributions, so please keep an eye and ear out for this and as always please contact any of the school council reps if you want some further information.

Thanks,
