In planning class structures next year, the priority is to keep classes as small as possible.  We will have fifteen (15) classes next year, this is a growth of one extra class when compared to 2021.  The average class size across the school is 22, this is well below Department of Education and Training’s accommodation funding formulae of one classroom per 25 students.  We made a deliberate decision to keep the Year 5-6 students together in one larger class rather than creating multi age classes as we have done in the past.  We have appointed an experienced Literacy Learning Specialist to take this Year 5-6 class.

Our teachers have begun working on placing students into classes for next year.  In forming classes, we take many factors into consideration, these are listed below. Please trust our professional judgement and support the school if at first the grade placement is not as you expected.

  • Input from your child’s last teacher
  • A balanced ratio of boys and girls
  • Achievement levels
  • Behaviour factors when applicable
  • Compatibility of students with others, i.e., separating students who have not worked well together
  • Leadership skills
  • At least one friend for familiarity

ORIENTATION DAY- 7TH DECEMBER

Orientation Day is on Tuesday 7th December, students will meet their new 2022 teacher and classmates.  This is a very exciting time for the students and teachers. It is also an opportunity for the students to experience the next year level.

NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT UPDATE AND VIRTUAL Q&A SESSION

I am excited to announce and share with the school community the final design of the Year 2-6 play equipment. The design by Imagination Play was the most popular layout, incorporating varied play elements allowing for the maximum number of students engaging simultaneously.  I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the working party who assisted in selecting the final design.

We have scheduled a Virtual Q&A session on Monday November 29 at 5:30pm.  This is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and be informed of the project. Please use this link to join the Q&A.

IMPORTANT DATES

Our last day for Term 4 is Friday December 17.  Students will be dismissed at 1:30PM.   All students, including Preps start school on Monday 31st January

TERM DATES FOR 2026-2030

The Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017 require the Minister for Education to determine the days on which a government school is required to be open for attendance by students.

The Minister for Education has set the term dates for 2026-2030.

Setting school dates well in advance assists with school planning and ensures the school community knows the days Victorian government schools are open for student instruction.

The 2026-2030 term dates are based on these criteria:

  • there are four school terms
  • the school year is 200 days
  • the Australia Day holiday occurs before students return to school
  • the first term vacation is to coincide with Easter
  • that, as far as possible, a consistent pattern be maintained from one five-year block to the next.

More information is on the Department’s website: School term dates and holidays in Victoria (education.vic.gov.au)
