Dear Year Two families,
A huge welcome back to all our Year Two families. I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday and are ready for the year ahead. We have a lot planned this year and we are so excited to get started.
It was wonderful to see the students embark on their first term earlier in the week. They entered the classrooms with excitement and smiles as they were warmly welcomed by their classmates and teachers.
I thought it would be fitting to hear from the students what have been the best parts of returning to school this week:
“I have loved reading my favourite book and meeting new friends” - William Penny 2G.
“I have loved coming to school this week, I have been learning about how to be a risk-taker” – Kiara Bartlett 2A.
“I have really enjoyed hearing stories; I wrote my own about a bear” – Lexii Feruglio-Tai 2B.
“I have enjoyed independent reading; I am looking forward to reading new books” - Liam Hika 2C.
“We have been learning about the Learner Profile attributes and emotions. We learned that we need to show respect to others” Vamika Gupta 2B.
We encourage you to ask your children about what they have been learning at school each day. Revisiting concepts at home will help deepen your child’s learning and understanding.
As the school continues to grow, we welcome new teachers across the school. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new teachers who have joined the Year Two team – Payton Meiers (2B), Megan Jefford (2E), Brent Syme (2C), Kate Seinfeld (2I) and Rachael Allan (2J). They will be joining our existing teachers – Noah Mernik (2A), Ashleigh Bratby and Jasmine Sheikh (2F), Sheridan Jennings (2G), Kayla Pietrapertosa (2D), Elise Clark (2H) and Lisa Crane (2J). All teachers have settled in nicely and have quickly built positive relationships with their classes. We are very excited to work together as a team to move learning forward in Year Two throughout 2022.
The Year Two students are currently participating in our start up program, ‘The First 20 Days’ which focuses on developing an understanding of school expectations and routines as well as having a strong emphasis on building positive relationships between the teacher and students.
As we move through the year, if you ever have any concerns or questions, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher in the first instance. If needed, the teacher can direct your queries to a member of the leadership team who will be able to assist.
I look forward to working closely with the students in Year Two and developing relationships with the Year Two families.
Kind regards,
Hayley Mann
