Welcome Back!
The year 6 teachers were excited to welcome back our returning students and give a warm welcome to all of our new students. Our first day of school was buzzing with excitement as students entered the brand-new building and have started making new friends with their classmates.
Hussain Shah student of 6B said, ‘My first day at Saltwater College was pretty good. It was really fun to get to know new people and learn in a new environment. Overall, it seems like a really good school!’
Our students have begun the year with the ‘Learning to Learn’ program which takes place over the first few weeks of school. Within this program, students focus on understanding themselves as learners and focus on learning classroom routines and structures. The program consists of lessons within Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Information Communication Technologies (ICT) and Wellbeing.

Year 6 Beach Program
In February and March, students of year 6 will have the opportunity to participate in the Williamstown Beach Program. This program has been developed to support students learning of the Victorian Health and Physical Education Curriculum and in support of student water safety.
At the beach program, students will be participating in activities that develop their understanding of how to be safe when around water. This will include learning CPR/ first aid, about aquatic rescues and how to use water survival equipment. Throughout the day, students will be in the ocean, pool and on the beach while learning new information and playing a variety of games.
Ayaan Ishaque who attended the 2021 beach program stated, ‘I enjoyed learning new information from lifeguards. I think it was really fun to go to the ocean and learn how to save someone.’
The beach program will take place on February 22, March 1 and March 8. It is essential that all notes and the $50 payment is made to the office on or before Friday the 11th of February to ensure all students are able to participate in this essential Health and PE learning.
Kind regards,
Year 6 Team
