Sr Nickie Flipo turns 98

Recently in visiting Sr Nickie Flipo on the special occasion of her 98th Birthday and having visited Sr Marita earlier in the year on her 95th birthday, I was so thankful for the enduring presence of our RSCJ in our lives at Sacré Cœur.  It was so pleasing to hear and see that Sr Nickie is in very good health and, it was really lovely to note that she has not lost that cheeky glint in her eye.

When Sr Marie-Rose and Sr Margot, sadly who have both passed away now, and Sr Nickie and Sr Marita lived in the house in Dorrington Avenue, they were very much a presence in our School, joining us often for different occasions. Every encounter with them was blessed as they would each share with me how they held us in their hearts and daily prayers. Hence, I was not surprised when during my visit with both Sr Nickie and Sr Marita, they were keen that I share with our community that, daily, they continue to pray for all of us.

Each of our Barat Sisters have been a true gift to us – exceptional women, who by their example, have taught us so much about the true meaning of Cor Unum, and have ensured that the distinctive spirit of the Society of the Sacred Heart across 221 years continues to inform the ethos and culture of our school.
