Deputy Principal's Update

“All children start their school careers with sparkling imaginations, fertile minds, and a willingness to take risks with what they think."

Sir Ken Robinson

Dear Parents,

It is just fantastic to have all the students and staff back onsite together once again!  The playgrounds and classrooms are buzzing with the sound of everyone getting back into the flow of learning at school again.  A big thank you to all of the work you have done as parents at home in supporting both your children and our school over the past remote learning period.

More than ever you have been given a wonderful insight into some of the different ways your children learn, I can guarantee it has changed a great deal from when you were at school, in fact it has changed so much again in the past 2 years.  As the students come back teachers are carrying out assessments to inform our end of year reporting and to gauge their needs across a range of subjects.

Much like 2020 our reports will be modified for this year as well to indicate the different learning that has occurred.  The main emphasis in reports will continue to be on Literacy, Mathematics and each students' social and emotional needs.  Over the next month teachers will continue to collect information about the progress of each child in their learning.  This will help to inform our programs for next year and assist us in knowing what needs a boost and where students can be supported and extended.

As part of this school attendance is important, and we know that the transition back for some students can be a nervous and anxious time after a long time at home.  Please continue to communicate with your classroom teacher as the first point of contact and know that we will all work together to support your child wherever they need it.

Just being here each day is a fantastic start!
