Art Competition Announcement

The College is currently designing a Reflection Walk in honour of our Founders Nano Nagle and Edmund Rice. The walk will include six different stations which will display a plaque, the station name, a QR code and an emblem.

We recently held a Student Art Competition for the design of the emblem. We are very happy to announce that the winner of the competition was Year 11 student, Kaitlynn Daly.

Kaitlynn wins a $100 voucher at Eckersleys and her design will be displayed on each plaque. We would also like to acknowledge Year 7 student Thomas Love who received Highly Commended for his entry. Thank you to all students who entered the competition.

Vinnies Christmas Hamper Appeal

Over the past weeks students, staff and their families have been donating Christmas food, drinks and toys for our 2021, St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. It is a true representation of our Christian mission to support the less fortunate. We are continually reminded of the generosity of spirit and support of Mater Dei families. Your contributions will make all the difference for our most needy in the Kooringal area this Christmas.

We were delighted to hand over our donations at our final assembly to the Kooringal Conference of St Vincent de Paul for inclusion in their Christmas Hampers. Mrs Maryanne Loughlin and Mrs Helen Brennan joined us for the assembly and responded on behalf of Vinnies.

Advent

We are just two weeks away from Christmas now. Holiday preparations may be speeding up for you, even as we try to slow down there is much around inviting us to spend, party, and keep moving. As always, there are disturbing stories in the news and probably some tough things going on with family and friends. Maybe the holidays feel more painful as you anticipate them without a loved one this year.

However this day finds you, let Advent be a resting place for you. Make time to do whatever it is that sounds most appealing, restful, comforting knowing that Jesus always walks with us.

Gracious God,
You call us to remain awake and be watchful. With Jesus walking with us we have reason to go forward with faith and optimism.
As we look forward to the great celebration of Christmas, may we stay focused on what is important in life
and live each and every day with a spirit of love and service ready to support and care for others.
We ask this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.
