Year 8

Holly -Student Leader

I found the transition from Year 7 to Year 8 quiet exciting, whilst also being a smooth one. Moving into Year 8 sent many new opportunities my way. This allowed me to expand my knowledge and practice different skills. Some of the opportunities I was shown are new interschool sports, more lunch time clubs, School Production, Swimming Carnival, Sports Carnival and many other things.

In Year 8, there are four new subjects that are introduced to the curriculum. These are Drama, Coding, Visual Communications, and Systems. These four subjects are all part of design. So far, I have had both Systems and Visual Communication. Both these subjects are stimulating and enjoyable. Right now, in Systems I am designing a toy monster which I will sew in the next few weeks. In Visual Communications we are learning all about 1-point perspective and how to draw them. I can’t wait for Semester 2 to see what Drama and Coding is all about!

Having the support of the Learning Leader, Liaisons and my teachers for each subject made it easy and straight forward. Getting to know more teachers has helped me thrive to the best of my ability. It definitely helps knowing I have the support and guidance from my teachers and peers, which will assist in completing Year 8 successfully. I have also developed some great new friendships which has made me feel more comfortable during group class discussions.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of Year 8 has in store for me!
