Hello Everyone,
Late Arrivals
Arriving late to school can have a huge impact on your learning, especially if it happens often. We have noticed that a high number of students are arriving late for school at the moment, as you can see in the graph below:
Even arriving 5 minutes late every day adds up to 3 days of learning missed over the year! Arriving 30 minutes late every is the same as missing 18 days learning opportunities over the year. We encourage students to be at school on time.
Pride & Integrity Raffle
To recognize all of the students who are attending school on time, we are starting a weekly raffle. This is to acknowledge the students demonstrating Pride and Integrity by being ready to learn each day.
Every student who is at school, and in their classroom, before the bell (9am) will have their name added to the class attendance box. So, if they are present every day of the week, on time, they will have 5 entries into the raffle.
Their class teacher will draw one name from the class box on Friday morning, just after 9am.
This person will then go into the whole school draw (this means one student from every class will be in the whole school draw) to be drawn at assembly that afternoon.
The raffle winner will receive 10Caught You Doing Right cards for Pride & Integrity.
This will start Monday 27th February.
Policies for Consultation
As we progress through the process of updating our school policies, some policies require community consultation. We have two policies open for community consultation, the Child Safety Policy and the Complaints Policy.
When writing school policies, we use the Department of Education templates with the compulsory details included. We make implementation adjustments to suit our school. These are the areas in which we can make changes. These sentences often start with “At Deer Park West we……”
These policies will be sent to all families via Compass. Please have a read through both draft policies. We are happy to receive feedback and make changes where practicable.
You can either email the policies with notes about your feedback to the school, or drop off a paper copy with your suggestions/questions written on them.
If you would like a paper copy of the policies, please ask at the school office.
