At this year's Senior School Swimming Carnival, the co-curriuc, Girton Community Action Group (GCAG) raised money to donate to the United Nations Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.

The war in Ukraine has continued for over a year now, and many people are still in desperate need of basic essentials such as food and shelter.

Thanks to the school community, GCAG cooked and sold 600 sausages and raised just over $800 towards this cause.

Huge thanks go to the Keane family of Baker’s Delight in Castlemaine, who donated and delivered bread for the day, which significantly increased the size of our contribution towards relief in Ukraine.

Many thanks also to all of the student volunteers who put in many hours on the day and did a sterling job handling food and money.

About the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund

Save the ASRC

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre is a non-governmentally funded charity that, for 21 years, has been helping our vulnerable refugees in Australia. Due to the recent inflation and cost-of-living crisis, donations have been down 45 per cent and their reserves have run out.

As a result, they have just seven weeks to raise enough money in their emergency appeal to continue to run.

We are seeking donations to help save this very worthy cause.  Donations can be made via the link below:
