KICKSTART LEARNING DAY
Staff and students began the 2023 school year again with a focus on learning skills. After a PCG welcome back, the first two classes focused on the HOW of learning – a refresher on the tips and tricks that underlie successful learning.
Year 7 looked at how to use their Independent Learning Planner and how to create and manage a weekly schedule to get everything done.
Years 8, 9 and 10 focused on getting organised, and planning and prioritising to manage their workload.
Years 11 and 12 spent time with their PCG teachers looking at setting goals and self-management.
Students also chose a workshop from the following:
- Skills for success – changing habits, creating routines, staying focused
- Mindfulness practice
- Practical organisation ideas – note-taking, note-keeping, managing papers and files
- Retrieval practice and mind mapping – simple tools for deeper learning
- Getting started and getting finished – tips to stop avoiding work and wasting time
- Finding the right balance - organisation for good mental health
- Examination tips and tricks
At Sacred Heart, we see these Learning Skills as skills for life and that’s why we put them first.
