P&C News

The first P&C meeting of the year usually draws the biggest attendance and this year should be no different. It is scheduled to happen at the school from 7.30pm next Monday, so please consider putting Monday 27th February in your diary as all parents and carers are welcome to attend, even if you are not a P&C member yet.

At the meeting we will have a presentation on our proposed major fundraising initiative for the year. Some people heard about this late last year, but Dounia L will be giving a brief update presentation on the plan to build an immersive zone nature play space next to the existing playground at the back of the oval. The first fundraising initiative we will be undertaking is a fun run on Friday 3rd April and Sara G will be giving an update on this event. Our biggest event on the P&C calendar is the annual Brick Fair being held on Sunday 7th May and Sunil R will be talking about his plans for this day, highlighting some of the volunteers working with him in preparing for this event, whilst also highlighting where there may be opportunities for new people to get more involved. If you are new to the school, or even if you've been around for a few years, there are always plenty of ways to get more involved. Volunteering is a great way to get to know more people in our school community.

For those that are unaware, P&C also run the uniform shop and the canteen. Profits from both, but uniform shop profits in particular will play an important role in how quickly we can raise the money needed to build an immersive new play area for the children. It is great to see such a high percentage of children taking pride in wearing the correct uniform every day, so remember that every time you buy something from the uniform shop you are also supporting your school, and supporting the P&C goal of delivering more resources for our kids to enjoy.

I've been to a number of "Meet the Teacher" nights at various schools over the years, but I've never been to one quite like the one the school held recently. From a P&C perspective, the BBQ helped bring in a large number of new members, but more importantly, the whole evening just felt like a much more welcoming and friendly event. A big thank you to all the parents that helped out on the BBQ that evening, as it definitely added a little something extra to what was a great night for families to come together, rather than the traditional model of one parent attending and the other parent staying home with the kids. As a P&C we love supporting new ideas to make our community stronger, so if you have any specific ideas I am always open to hearing about them. Why not come along on Monday 27th and tell me your ideas?
