Performing Arts update

I would like to welcome everyone back to Shelford for 2023. What a start it has been! The year began with our inaugural Music Camp, which was held on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January. Students from Senior Strings, Corelli Strings, Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble were able to get a head start on the year, working on repertoire for some upcoming performances. I would like to thank all of the staff and students involved over the weekend.

We are very excited to start the audition process for the musical this week. For students interested in being involved in this year, the first round of auditions for the ensemble will be held on Tuesday 7 February, 3.30pm and catch-up auditions will follow.

Staffing Changes 2023

Firstly, Jenni Thom is on leave for Term 1due to a family illness. We all wish Jenni the very best and look forward to her return in Term 2. Anya McLeod will be covering some of Jenni’s classes, therefore Michelle Nguyen will be joining us to take on some of Anya’s piano students.

At the end of 2022, after over 15 years as Shelford’s singing teacher, Anna Young resigned from Shelford. Isabel Hertaeg has been appointed as Shelford’s new singing and public speaking teacher. We wish Anna all the best for the future.

Lawson Kennard (Guitar and Electric bass) and Sharon Hatton (French Horn) also resigned at the end of 2022. Kathleen Halloran will be taking up the Guitar and Electric bass position, while Brian Kavolius-Matherne will be taking up the French Horn position

Lachlan McLaren is also joining us as a violin/viola teacher this year.

I am looking forward to a fantastic year of music, drama, dance and theatre opportunities; there truly is something for everyone. I would encourage every student to get involved. From those wanting to fully immerse themselves, to those wanting a taste of Performing Arts, I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
