Teaching and Learning

Last week we were excited to welcome our students back into the classroom for 2023. Our teachers have spent time over the holiday period preparing for the return of students to their classroom and have been busy working on curriculum documentation. During the staff days we welcomed and inducted our new staff to Shelford and worked in faculty and curriculum teams to collaborate for the term ahead. 

Term 1 offers a range of learning opportunities for the students, both within and outside the classroom. We encourage our students to be active participants within the classroom and to consider the many opportunities on offer here at Shelford through our extra-curricular program.  

NAPLAN 2023

This year the NAPLAN testing period will be in March (traditionally it has occurred in May). NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. This week a letter will be emailed home to parents and guardians of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 providing further details around NAPLAN and the testing period.
