In & Out of the Classroom

Mini Vinnies

The Junior School Mini Vinnies group are selling ice creams for $1.50 and icy poles for 60c each Friday at lunchtime. The money raised will go towards new activities for play time such as Lego and board games and, most importantly, 50% will be donated to charities including Vinnies, Caritas and Catholic Mission.

The initiative is certainly popular with Prep students Freddie and Rupert (pictured above).

Technology In-Fill Project

Our Technology department has grown with the automotive infill project completed over the summer holidays. St Virgil’s now has four designated workshop spaces to facilitate the huge uptake in Year 9 and 10 electives.

6B at Woodwork

After missing Woodwork in 2022, 6B were excited to be the first class going to Austin’s Ferry for six weeks of woodwork this term. The boys are guided through 1.5 hours of woodworking skills by senior school staff every Tuesday where they will finish with two complete projects. Woodwork is an amazing opportunity to use mathematics in the real world, design, problem solve, collaborate and use tools correctly and safely.

Getting Creative in Art Class

Junior School boys have been enjoying getting their hands messy in art over the past few weeks, learning about and using different mediums.

Outdoor Education

Year 9-10 Outdoor Ed grabbed their chance to make the most of pristine conditions and headed onto the water yesterday. Year 11s also enjoyed their first practical Outdoor Ed class of the year.

Rowing

Our rowers were treated to some spectacular sunsets over the past few weeks, with a dolphin or two joining their training as well. Good luck to the squad as they travel to Lake Barrington this weekend.

Year 9-10 Recreational Leadership

The Year 9-10 Recreational Leadership Class testing their skills out on Thursday February 16 at the Corpus Christi Catholic School swimming trials. Well done boys.
