ART & SCIENCE

In Week 5 Art lessons, students had the opportunity to complete art projects that they had started since the beginning of Term 1. This included Abstract Name Art, and Hand Art Elements. Students also collaboratively created two artworks that will be on display in the office.

Take a look at some art photos below!

In Science, students have been learning further about Biological Science and how animals interact in and around their environments.

F/1/2 students have been exploring what a ‘pest’ is and how they can be harmful to humans and the environment. Students designed and created a helmet to deter magpies. There were some wonderful and bright creations delivered!

Grade 3/4 students have used their own research to choose a living thing and complete an application form for it to live on Planet Zog. Students will follow up next lesson on creating a realistic illustration of their chosen living thing to accompany the application.

Adaptations have been the focus of learning in 5/6 Science. Students explored an interactive to identify advantages of adaptions and have begun a task to create a new scene to feature in the “Gotta Survive” video - watch out next newsletter for some photos!

Spiny!

We have been eagerly and excitedly watching the Spiny Leaf Insect interact with its environment over the past few weeks. Students have loved taking Sping out of the enclosure and letting her play on their arms and the tables. She loves to mimic music and is often seen to be bopping to tunes. We have loved discussing her behaviours and why these might be occurring.

Just yesterday, she shed her skin (exoskeleton), a process that occurs in females six times to reach maturity.
