Mrs Ryan's Fortnightly Reflections

Welcome to the 2023 school year! I do hope that every family has positively returned

to school and has had a great first couple of weeks! We are so excited for the school year ahead with so much to look forward to. Firstly, I would like to welcome every new student, family and staff member. We are so glad that you are part of our school community and we know you will all contribute greatly. Our 80+ foundation Students have proven to be very ready for school life and have impressed their teachers with their easy transition. We look forward to their group picture appearing in the newspaper soon. I have also included a link to our Staff team so that everyone can familiarise themselves with new and existing staff and their roles in the school this year.

The year has certainly started full steam ahead with all students settling exceptionally well into the learning routine. We have happy faces, fun playgrounds and educators ready to have a wonderful year. St Mary’s has already had the annual swim carnival, preparing for our beginning of Year Mass and first assembly. It has been particularly lovely to see our existing staff and Students welcome new friends, families and colleagues. It is overwhelming how many People comment on how inclusive and community orientated our school is. St Mary’s is A large school, so this being common feedback, makes me hugely proud.

It was my intention to share a Year Ahead Bulletin, however while we have been challenged by the Compass roll over I have instead included key information around our 2023 year in this newsletter.

Apologies for the length of the newsletter and valuable links, however I recommend all

Families take the time to read it.

Please explore key areas of;

  • St Mary’s 2023 Family Information Guide
  • The Master Plan
  • St Mary’s School Improvement Plan
  • St Mary’s Team of Educators
  • Changes to uniform
  • Canteen community consultation
  • Compass - The reason for change

I hope the newsletter shares with you all a little of what lies ahead, key focus areas and progressive developments that will continue to keep our school community growing and improving.

Thank you all so much for your patience, communication and willingness to learn with our school community as we have  rolled over to Compass. Temporarily our means of communication has not been as it was but we are working diligently on troubleshooting to ensure we are back at the high standard of communication in which we pride ourselves.

Every school year is an opportunity for new learning, new beginnings and connections. As parents we encourage you to be active members of our school community, supporting and expecting great learning throughout the year!

St Mary’s will continue to release the newsletter fortnighthly and our whole school assembly will be held every alternate week. Compass, email and our socials will continue to be our predominant mode of communication with our families. If anyone has any questions, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or the St Mary’s office.

I look forward to seeing you all, in and around the school!
