Meet our College Captains

Jonathan D’Rozario

2019 College Annual Theme
Take courage, it is I; be not afraid
What does this mean to you?
This year’s theme of, ‘Take courage, it is I’ is quite important to the way I believe we should act. It includes the school Motto of ‘Be not afraid’ which shows how getting out of our comfort zone is how we learn. Trying new things and being in different situations affects our ability to learn new things, far greater than when you are in the same situations over and over again, so by trying new things we can become better versions of ourselves.
How will you live this statement throughout the year in your role?
I hope to carry out this theme that our school has chosen through my actions and everyday choices in school and extra-curricular activities inside and outside the school.
What are your goals for 2019?
For yourself in your Captains role?
To hopefully be as friendly and approachable leader that leads amongst the community. I hope to leave a path for others and inspire them to become leaders in their own ways in future years. Also I hope I can push my fellow peers to try new things and to ‘Be not afraid’ in their decision making.
For yourself as a Year 12 student?
To enjoy my last year at St Peter’s College as a student and enjoy the challenges and joys the year will no doubt throw at me.
Personally?
I want to be able to learn new things about myself through putting myself in different situations through my captaincy role. Also I hope to push myself in my studies and also with Cricket to know I have left no stone unturned and have given it my best shot to succeed this year.
What would you like your legacy be for St. Peter’s College?
I hope the legacy I leave to students is believing in yourself and being courageous is ok. I hope I can set a legacy that making mistakes is fine when being courageous because from these mistakes we build the foundation of greatness.
What are your immediate life ambitions and aspirations once you complete your studies at St. Peter’s College?
After Year 12 I would like to go on and study at University in the sports and psychological field. I hope to play lots of cricket at grade level and maybe play first class cricket someday.
What are your long-term life ambitions and aspirations?
To find a job that I enjoy doing and to have a happy family and friends surrounding me.
In one sentence what would you like to say to your fellow students to convey your pride in your College?
I know St. Peter’s College will never leave my heart and mind as I have worn ‘Be not afraid’ on my blazer every day and now it is permanently engraved in my heart and head for life, so that every action I do is with courage and belief.

When did you start your studies at St. Peter’s College?
I started studying Year 7 at St. Peter's College in 2014.
Tell us about your family?
I am the eldest of five children. I have four young, yet over-protective brothers. One is at St. Peter's College while the other two are at St. Agatha’s Primary School and the youngest starts school next year. We are a Polynesian family, so faith plays a big part in our family. We attend St. Agatha’s Catholic church and are actively involved in the church. I love to help serve. My mum and dad have and always will be my rock and they are my ‘why’ to everything I do in life.
Tell us about your other interests?
When I was younger, I was one of those kids that had to try out every sport, so one day I can brag about it to my friends. (sadly, I was never good in any). But throughout the thousands of sports I’ve tried, dancing became the ONLY sport I could perfect. I am a self-taught Hip Hop dancer and I add my Polynesian movements to my dancing which is called "#POLYSWAG”. Just last year, I decided to play Rugby Union and now I love the sport! I can’t handle being without my rugby ball!
Year 12 Studies:
I am studying VCE Dance, English, Madjitil Moorna, Sport and Rec and I am doing VET Music.
Have you already completed any of your VCE Studies prior to this year?
No I have not.
2019 College Annual Theme
Take courage, it is I; be not afraid
What does this mean to you?
If the Lord is by your side, you ‘can do all things through Christ who strengthens you’. Growing up was quite difficult, as I was always a shy and socially awkward type of person. Coming into St. Peter’ College, I grew confidence through performing arts, getting out of my comfort zone by talking to people and to live by our school motto ‘Be not afraid’.
How will you live this statement throughout the year in your role?
As College Captain, I promised myself to encourage younger students who are quiet and shy to try things they don’t see themselves doing. This can be done through my actions, not only at school, but also off campus.
What are your goals for 2019?
Focus on my wellbeing and to strive for the best! I like to live by a quote that goes “Write your name in stone and not in sand, because it’ll wash up”– Coach Gucci
For yourself in your Captains role?
To have a close connection with every student at St. Peter’s College and to lead by example.
For yourself as a Year 12 student?
I know I will have breakdowns along the way, but to stay consistent in my routines and to keep up with my studies.
Personally?
Pray every day. To thank the Lord for giving me another day of life and to appreciate the opportunities he blesses me with!
What would you like your legacy be for St. Peter’s College?
A legacy I want to leave at St. Peter’s College is for students to WANT to come to school and not dread it. I truly love coming to school and love seeing everyone every morning. St. Peter’s College is my safe haven and I hope it will be the students safe haven too!
What are you immediate life ambitions and aspirations once you complete your studies at St. Peter’s College?
I want to be apart of a youth ministry team called ‘NET Team’ and travel to evangelise the word of God to youth members around the world.
What are your long term life ambitions and aspirations?
Hopefully make it big in the dance industry and become a professional choreographer. Before this, I also want to make it big in my rugby career.
In one sentence what would you like to say to your fellow students to convey your pride in your College?
You go from strangers to friends and then soon you’ll call them family, your teachers become your guardians and your school grounds turn into home. St. Peter’s College is truly a place to call home and we all support each other no matter what your aspirations are in life, ‘Be not afraid’.
