From our Principal

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,
St. Peter’s College is committed to developing the whole person, academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually to meet the challenges of being a global citizen. St. Peter’s is also continually striving to build community. After all, “it takes a village to raise a child”.
These statements form part of our school vision document and is lived out in many and varied ways. This week it took the form of two significant events:
Parent Welcome Evening
The structure of this evening is designed to serve a number of purposes including, meeting new Year 7 families and providing insights into their transition and learning progress to date. Part of this was an individual learning discussion around recently completed literacy and numeracy testing and how together we will strive for maximum growth. For our Years 8-12 it provides the opportunity to meet new Learning Advisors or reacquaint themselves with current Learning Advisors. It also provided a forum to hear from experts in the field around the ever present topic of Bullying. The organisation, Bully Free Zone, presented a powerful presentation, one which will inform future planning. It is anticipated that this will be just the first instalment of our work with them as the feedback from parents was extremely positive. For our Year 9 students, at the Clyde North campus it was an opportunity to explore, listen and observe the Year 9 learning program, Expand, and the intended outcomes from this innovative approach to learning.
The relationship between home and school is made to be nourished and events like this week, our vertical House structure and our Strive and Thrive program contribute significantly to our focus on the development of the whole person.
Swimming Carnivals
Each campus held their swimming carnival this week. An opportunity for students to excel. Often these events enable a different group of students to display their skill and expertise which is important as we provide opportunities for all to excel in something. Significantly the swimming carnivals contribute greatly to both community and House spirit. The event provides opportunities for the House and Sports Leaders to display and practice their leadership skills. It enables House groups to work together for a common cause, and it enables staff and students to nourish relationships which can lead to better and more respectful relationships back in the classroom.
Congratulations to our winners for 2019
