Principal's Report

Principal - Brea Terris

Assistant Principal -Anthea Mathers

Dear Families,

Well it certainly has been a very different start to Term Two. I am so proud to say that as a school we have transitioned so well to Remote/Flexible learning. It has been so nice hearing from families  how the first week has been going.

We decided that it is important to keep up our routines as much as possible, so we will be producing a weekly newsletter to keep everyone informed about what is happening. It will probably look a little different to the newsletters you are used to receiving. In the coming weeks we will endeavour to include some more of the wonderful work you are all doing at home and your stories about learning. All the staff are looking forward  to seeing everyones smiling faces back at school.

It is such a new way of working for us and we do appreciate all the support and understanding from families as we navigate through an ever changing situation.

The office will be unattended apart from Fridays. The school phone is diverted to the school mobile. The mobile only has one line, if we miss your call we will call you back.

On a Friday we will have the learning packs ready for the following week.  If you need the hard copy pack for week 3, please ensure you pick it up next Friday between 10am and 2pm. After this time we will be unable to get it out to you in time for the following week.

We are currently organising technology for families who require it. We will let you know next week when they are ready to collect.

We are hoping as we have access to more technology that most work will be able to be undertaken online. We will support families to transition to this process.

I understand that we will all have teething issues with the use of technology and remote learning but appreciate that everyone has been remaining calm and has been contacting the school as required. Please don't hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or feedback.

Attendance

During remote/flexible learning we need to mark the attendance rolls once a day. We ask at this stage, if you child is unwell or not able to participate in a day of learning to please contact the school mobile and report the absence. As we move to a range of different technology platforms we will ask students to register their attendance in the morning before commencing learning. As more informartion comes out about this, we will let families know the process.

Foundation 2021 Enrolments

Generally at this time of year we are well underway in the transition process for the Foundation/Prep students for 2021. We had planned our information evening for the end of Term One, but this had to be postponed due to COVID-19.

We have information available for families who are looking at enrolling in 2021 and are currently updating our website to support families with this process.

If you know any families who are interested in enrolling, please get them to contact the school phone and we organise some information for them.

We are currently investigating running a video conference information night for families.

Have a lovely weekend, stay safe and we look forward to talking to you next week as we begin Week 2 of remote/flexible learning.
