Library News

From the Librarian
Over the last week, we have celebrated life in two very different ways. The Monarch butterflies emerged in our Library Wildlife container and some children had the pleasure of helping to release them on Monday morning when the day was sunny (and trying to be warm). Thank you to the helpers for giving the beautiful butterflies their start in life.
Meanwhile, last Wednesday, Mr Croser and I attended the funeral of our friend and author Christobel Mattingley. Mrs Fergusson has honoured this lady’s contribution to children’s literature by making two lovely displays of the two dozen Mattingley books that we have here. They reflect Christobel’s love for children, animals, and wider issues of conservation and justice for people experiencing tough challenges. She was a writer who always wrote with commitment, research and compassion as her works sharing Indigenous issues show.
On Tuesday, our Year 1 class read Christobel’s book, “Tucker’s Mob”, together. We hope children and teachers will enjoy selecting books to read from the displays. They range from Picture books, to Junior and Secondary fiction and non-fiction to Reference volumes.
