Term Two

Term Two has started with continued revision of our prep and study routines and the boys encouraged to attend Academic Support for two subjects. Whilst there has been some uptake, I would ask for your support in encouraging this as the benefits of intensive tuition is easily seen, especially with exams fast approaching.

I met with the students regarding their progress and the goals they have set for each subject. Many are on track, with a few needing to focus a bit harder on revising their notes and adding to them to achieve the success they seek. We will continue to monitor their academic progress and discuss areas for improvement. Don’t be afraid to seek advice from your child's teachers or GSG Head of House, should you have any concerns or queries regarding this.

Exam Schedules

Exam schedules for Years Ten to Twelve are now available on the MyGSG portal for you to view. I have made copies of these available for all students to ensure adequate preparation is in place.  We are focussing on good preparation for the weeks ahead, with talks on nutrition, sleep, exercise and revision being key areas for consideration.

Winter Sport

With Winter sport in full swing, there is not a day of the week without training, games, coaching or umpiring taking place. I am pleased to report that, in spite of the demands placed on the boys, they are all able to manage their washing and other pursuits around their academic schedule. The ability to manage their time well is a valuable life skill and I would like to publicly commend them on their diligent approach to this. Thank you too, for all of your efforts in keeping up with their leave requests.

Mid Term Break

I know the boys are looking forward to the mid-term break, as are boarding staff. I wish you and your families well and hope that you enjoy having your children home for the break. As always, Eclipse will be open from 4.00pm on Monday 3 June and we look forward to seeing the lads return.
