Quiz Night

The annual quiz night was held on Sunday night of Week Three. This is always a fun night for the boarding community, with six rounds of questions, drawing competitions, lucky door-prizes and a heads and tails competition. This is also a great time to catch candid photos of the boarders enjoying time together in mixed-age teams.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Mr Paul Rogers, Mrs Jenny Smith and the Gap Assistants took a group of boarders to Middleton Beach for popular recreation activity, stand-up paddle-boarding, and to enjoy beautiful, sunny weather on Sunday of Week Two.

The boarders travelled to Middleton Beach mid-morning for a paddle, then enjoyed a barbecue lunch, followed by more paddle-boarding.  We hope to schedule this activity again soon and make the most of the sunny weather we have left for this season.

Slip and Slide

Another favourite activity on-site is the slip and slide.  This is an activity that guarantees lots of smiles and laughter.

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is a new recreation activity to join the boarders from all houses together in friendly competition.  The boarders competed House against House in the seven challenges which were either physical or mental.

Physical challenges were:

  • Super ball bash - hit a bouncy ball to your team-mates to catch
  • Hoola Hoop - throw a hoop over a pin
  • The crossing - team challenge to cross the lava with planks of wood
  • Push ups - 1000 push ups
  • Golf challenge - hit a golf ball into a designated ring
  • Blind run - blindfold three legged racing
  • Soccer ball circuit - travel around the oval twice passing a soccer ball which must not hit the ground

Mental challenges were:

  • Poetry - recite Clancy of the Overflow
  • Puzzle - complete the Australia puzzle
  • How Aussie? - Name an Australian town using every letter of the alphabet
  • Chess - two people play a game of chess
  • Seven's - defeat Mr Hudson in a game of seven's
  • Jugs - collect one litre jugs of water
  • Building challenge - build a Jenga tower 80cm tall

Chatting to some of the boarders after this event, the feedback was very positive and they expressed that it would be great to run this competition again.
