From the Boarding Captains

Boarding Captain News: Levi Cosh

With Term Two comes Winter sport, exams and Country Week, all of which everyone looks forward to mostly (except for exams). The mid-term break grants Years Seven to Nine students a chance to go home, see family and, if they wish, study. It gives senior boarders an extended break from the pressures of school and us Year Twelve students prime time to study prior to our first set of exams.

So far this term, recreation activities have included rounds of the Boarders' Cup, movie trips and the newly-introduced Amazing Race event. This event saw all boarders who were in boarding on Sunday 19 May compete for their House for the ultimate prize, a pizza dinner. Well done to Anchorage House for winning the amazing race!

Bella and I wish you all a safe and relaxing break.

Term Two is moving along just as quick as Term One. Boarding has been a hive of activity, with many events and activities, including National Boarding Week and the quiz night.

Week Three was National Boarding Week and, as a community, we celebrated by completing a one-kilometre run. Boarders met at Wednesday lunchtime, some wearing their hometown shirts which showed how far and wide GSG boarders come from. After the run, we were all treated to lunch provided by the Dining Hall which included watermelon juice, a cupcake and mini pizza. This was a nice, refreshing way to finish and celebrate National Boarding Week as a whole boarding community.

The quiz night was held on Sunday of Week Three. Each boarder was allocated a coloured table, with each table having boarders from every House. There were six rounds, along with activities and games in-between the rounds, which were very entertaining. The Red table won by an impressive margin, with Grey coming second. Well done to all the boarders involved in making it an enjoyable night.

Term Two is moving along very quickly and with the long weekend coming up shortly, Levi and I hope all boarders enjoy the break at home.
