Kindergarten

This fortnight in English, we have been extending our sound knowledge, learning the sounds ‘f’ ‘r’ and ‘o’ and how to use these sounds when reading and writing. In writing, we have been learning how to form a simple sentence, while also exploring narratives. We were very excited to complete our first Big Write last week! We did an awesome job at planning and constructing our own narrative, which was based on the concept ‘Under the Sea’. Miss Theobald was very proud!

Meanwhile, in Mathematics, we have been identifying numbers before and after given values, counting beyond 10 and backward from 20. We have also been learning about the length of objects and how to measure length using concrete materials.

Stage 1

Stage One have had a wonderful start to Term 2 after the holiday break. We have continued to focus on imaginative text types in writing. This has enabled their creative minds to be celebrated during the Big Write. The students have focused on using a range of 'WOW' words in their writing to entertain the reader.

We have also been busily preparing our writing pieces and artworks for the Wee Waa Show. Year One students have been publishing their Cinquain poems, while Year Two have been editing their Limericks. The students have thoroughly enjoyed painting, cutting and drawing their creative artworks, which will be showcased next week.

Stage One have also been engaging in a number of hands-on and differentiated learning experiences during Mathematics sessions to record hour, half-hour and quarter-hour time on analog and digital clocks.

We look forward to a busy and successful Term 2!

Welcome back to Term 2 at St Joseph’s! This term is surely panning out to be jam-packed with learning, friendships, and most importantly, fun. Stage 2 have already started working on their narrative writing and improving their literary descriptions. They have also been hard at work developing their characters, settings, and plot.

Meanwhile, in Religion, Year 3 have been preparing for their first Holy Communion. Parent Information Night will be held on Tuesday 21 May at St Andrews Church.

Finally, in sport, Stage 2 will be participating in Gymnastics for the duration of the term, working on their balance, jumping and core strength.

Best wishes and God bless.

Meanwhile, in Maths, we have been focusing on Whole Number, 2-D, and 3-D shapes, as well as measurement. The students have also been having a lot of fun in art, where they have been creating their masterpieces to showcase in the Wee Waa Show. Finally, Year 5 have also been hard at work practicing for the NAPLAN testing, which will be completed next week. Good luck!
