Kinder Family Picnic
Don't forget that this Thursday is our Kindergarten Family Picnic out on the junior playground. Bring along some food, chairs or a rug and get to know some other families for the year.
Our Orange Tree
We have had a a huge celebration at Kinder this week- Our orange tree that has been growing for many years has had it's first harvest! The children are looking forward to tasting the fruit over the coming week- as the 'sample' orange that was tasted for 'quality control' purposes by staff was mind blowingly delicious!!
Dickins Room
We had a fantastic week at kinder with our Marram and Wimbi classes. Our Wimbi class enjoyed singing together, some games with our crocodile puppet, painting and lots of cars and construction. The children have been, learning as they explore the environment and play as well as adjusting to the routine and expectations of the class.
Our Marram class had a very busy week, we went on our first walk and visited the garden for snack on Thursday. The children really enjoyed getting out and were wide-eyed as they walked through the school.
We had our first session with Cristina in our language program, we sang a hello song and read a story about the Chinese spring festival.
During the afternoons we have implemented some small group activities, utilizing the hall and kinder spaces to engage the children's learning through songs, games and the use of puppets. The longer sessions have afforded staff these opportunities and we are embedding skills such as focus, concentration, self regulation and turn taking in these moments.

Moore Room
We have had a great week in the Moore Centre. Both Budja and Gawarn groups have been very engaged in; dinosaur discovery and making volcanoes in the sandpit, the cars with tracks, lego creations and finding bugs outdoors. These experiences have enabled the children to share some amazing moments where we have seen some great collaborative work and sharing of their ideas and thoughts with one another.
Budja group has been very responsive to a game of ‘Shoe soup’ which requires memory, turn taking and of course a bit of humour. They have also been sharing their favourite colours and we have been learning these using sign language to the song ‘I can sing a rainbow’.
Gawarn group have been very keen on yoga, dinosaur songs and audio books. They also had their first experience of heading out of the kinder and up to the school gardens. They were amazing as we found the line on the asphalt and we used that as our travel guide. They had an awesome time looking to see what was growing, roaming the tracks and taking in the smells of the garden. We will have many more opportunities to further our exploration and inquiries.
We have welcomed Cristina back and begun our Chinese language program. The children have been introduced to a ‘hello/greeting’ song and learnt some numbers – speaking and gestures. We are very fortunate to provide this program for our children as the benefits of learning a second language boosts problem solving, critical thinking, listening skills, improves memory and nurtures curiosity and introduces them to another culture.
Looking forward to our picnic this Thursday 5.30 – 6.30pm.
Have a fabulous week!
