What a morning we had last Monday at the Senior School Swimming carnival! Plenty of noise and colour as our Year 3-6 students competed in a variety of swimming events. A huge thanks to Pete, Jarrod, Andrew, Maria, Min, Branka, Liz, Erle, Dayna, Monica, Tina, Emily, Tamara, Mich, Olivia, Sarah, Alison, Fon, Emilya and Huili who assisted with the day. The running of the day was so smooth because of the expertise and efficiency shown by our volunteers. Congratulations to our students who competed with zest, pride and courage. Swimming can be daunting… well done to those who showed bravery when competing. Further congratulations to our 25 students who have been selected to compete in the District Swimming carnival on Friday February 21st again at Aquarena. Look out for results in next week’s newsletter.

As part of our sustainability initiatives - we are trying to create an activity that combines art and the artful re-purposing of discarded or disused materials. This Term we are asking students to look for very small pieces of toys or parts of toys/objects that are of a particular colour eg. pink, peach, basically - all the colours of the rainbow (this excludes black, white and grey as they are not colours of the visible spectrum). The pieces should fit anywhere within the following proportions: Approximately 5 cm length and width. The height should ideally be no greater than 3 cm if possible. We will be making an assemblage/ collage inspired by the Brazilian artist Vic Muniz. Please drop off your donations in the art room in the box labelled mini bits.
Many thanks

Performing Arts News
Can you hear the tribal beats? Last week we received new African drums and percussion instruments. The students have been enjoying playing in drum circles and rockin' out their rhythms. Drum Circles offer an expressive, stimulating and accessible musical environment for children while providing valuable opportunities for them to learn & develop other skills, such as; respect, self-control, listening, sharing, cooperation, confidence, expression and creativity.
