Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it along to the Information Night, it was a fantastic night and we all loved the ‘Meet & Greet’ session. This week 1/2E will be running assembly and SRC badges for Junior Students will be presented then as well.
In Maths, we investigated the topic Data. We began by collecting some simple data from classmates using tally marks and we discovered how much easier it is to count and collect data when we group it into five. We then developed a survey question and conducted question time to collect data. The next day we then created a bar graph to display the data we collected.
Congratulations to all the students who prepared and wrote their speeches! You all did a wonderful job and came up with some very convincing persuasive speeches. In Writing, we also began to develop our characters and setting for our Narrative. Our VCOP focus was Vocabulary looking at adjectives we would use to describe our characters and setting to include detail for the reader. For handwriting we looked at the letter j, y , g and i .
For Literacy we focused on Nonfiction and Fiction text features. We compared our books from our I-Pick box, made Venn Diagrams to discuss similarities and differences and made a T-chart to sort text features. This week we will be looking at Predicting.
Look out for Talk Homework coming home on Wednesday night and Junior Rotations will start at the end of week 5.
Have a lovely week!
