ANZAC Ceremony 2019
Congratulations to our soloists: Echa and Euan and to all the members of the Senior Choir for their beautiful performance at our ANZAC Ceremony in Week 1. I have received many positive comments from parents and teachers about the songs, the soloists, the choir and the whole school singing of the “Green Hills of Albany.” It was a very moving and meaningful ceremony.
Massed Choir 2019
The Senior Choir will be performing again in the Massed Choir Festival this year. We have been placed in Concert number 8 on Thursday evening the 26th September (Term 3 - Week 10). We have begun working on the 10 new songs that will need to be memorised for this event and it is now imperative that students consistently attend choir rehearsals each week and arrive on time for a 7:45 am start. Thank you to the majority of students who are always prepared and on time each week.
Compere workshops for students interested in auditioning for the Massed Choir compere position are now being held on Wednesday lunchtimes – please bring your lunch to the Music room.
Soloist workshops for students interested in auditioning for the Massed Choir soloist position are now being held on Thursday lunchtimes – please bring your lunch to the Music room.
South Metropolitan Sing Festival
The South Metropolitan Sing Festival is scheduled for Tuesday 25th June (Term 2 – Week 9.) The Junior Choir will be performing at this event. We will be joining some other schools in the Willetton area and performing at Rostrata Primary School. The time is yet to be confirmed but we are hoping for a morning session. A note will be going home shortly with more details.
Junior and Senior Choir
The Senior Choir and Junior Choir have now reached their full capacity. Students wanting to join these choirs will be placed on a waiting list. I have had to submit my final numbers to the organisers of the Massed Choir Festival and to the Sing Festival. Those students who do not maintain a good attendance record will be removed from the choir list. If a child has three unexplained absences from choir in a term then they will lose their position in the choir and a child on the waiting list will be invited to join in their place. This system has worked very effectively in past years.
If your child is interested in joining the choir, please email me directly so that I can place their name on the waiting list and contact you when a place becomes available. Jennifer.Coleman@education.wa.edu.au
Piano Auditions
Auditions for Piano positions for various ensembles will occur this term. If your child is interested in auditioning for one of these positions and would like to be a part of an ensemble, please ask them to see me as soon as possible so that I can schedule a time in for them to audition. The music for the audition will be available at the end of Week 3 and copies will be on the Music Room door. Students must be having regular private lessons on the piano in order to be considered for these positions as they are very important roles.
